We are presently cataloging the Knight Collection of photographs and are getting quite a collection of unknown photos. We will be posting them here in hopes that people will be able to help us identify them. As well, if anyone has any photographs or artifacts that need identification we will be pleased to put them here too.

Now, here is the first challenge.  We have a log unloading machine on display called a "Humdirgen".  We have been challenged about how it was named.  There is a phrase for "Leif Ericson Day" called "Hinka Dinka Dirgen".  Could there be a word in the Norwegian language that explains it's name?

Challenge #2. The automobile above appears to be a single cylinder machine driven by a tiller rather than a wheel.  That dates it between 1895 and about 1903 (depending on manufacturer).  Can anyone identify it for us?  It was in the Knight collection of pictures.   So far the best guess appears to be a Duryea.  But that is in question because of the way the front spring is aligned.  Duryea used a single front spring, this one appears to have two.

The webmaster has started a listing of railway steam engines used on Vancouver Island.  Here is the latest Excel speadsheet.

Presently we are receiving a number of requests for information.  We look forward to and welcome any requests.  Since we have been on line on the internet we are getting requests from all around the world.  To help us please download a copy of the information request and email it to us.  It is on the Contact Us page.
