The Ladysmith and District has a number of "in house" resources to assist you in your research.  We have all the issues of the Ladysmith Chronicle newspaper, which forms a valuable resource in itself.  However you need to have an idea of the dates you are researching.

Our photo collection is extensive and is being indexed by computer for ease of lookup.

A number of books written about the area are in our library.  These are available for research here.  Unfortunately we cannot loan them.  Where copyrights permit we can make photo copies.

We are widely connected with the community and our volunteers themselves are often a valuable source of information.

We have maps and documents pertaining to physical property in the area.  These can often be useful.

We are looking for old telephone books.  If you run accross one, we would love to have it.  They are often a very valuable resource.

Our researchers are able to assist you.  We have a number of researchers, each of which has a particular specialty.  As they are not all in the Archive at the same time it is recommended that you contact us with your requirements and we will put you in touch with the right person.

The internet is a valuable source of research.  Following is a list of resources a researcher might find valuable.
